Funeral Services for Marine Dupas of Moreauville will begin at 11:00am on Saturday, September 26, 2020 at the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Moreauville.

Marine Dupas, age 92, passed away on Sunday, September 20, 2020 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Freddie Porterie of Marksville, La.

She was the oldest daughter born to the late John and Virginia Prier Hampton of Moreauville, La. Until her health failed, she was a faithful and active member of The New Mount Pleasant Baptist Church where Rev. Colette Harris is the Pastor. At the age of 7, she was called and baptized at the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church under the leadership of F.O. Benjamin and Charles William in 1936. There were many capacities that she served in at the church. Mrs. Dupas was a secretary of the Sunday school, VP of Missions, VP of Senior Choir and Church Clerk. On June 6, 1947, she graduated from Marksville Colored High. She was a member of the Grand United Order of the Sons and Daughters of Isaac and Rebecca of America, where she served as a Grand Board Officer and a deputy; local chapter of Evening Star where she served as secretary and princess, pass member of Order of Eastern Star Saint Mary Chapter; and a member of Household of Ruth in Batchelor, La.

She married the late Curry James Dupas on November 28, 1949. To this union, three children where born, Sandra D. Porterie (Freddie) of Marksville, Sallie Dupas of Marksville, and James Curry Dupas, Jr. of Poland; one adopted son, Emerson Gordon of Gulfport, MS; granddaughter, Jennifer L. Jones of Charleston, SC; four great-grandchildren: Caitlynn Jones of Las Vegas, Isaiah Jones of Myrtle, SC, Shaun Bellamy of Alaska, and Trinity Jones of Charleston, SC; a very special sister, Lou Deal; along with many nieces, great nieces, nephews and great nephews.

She was preceded in death by her brothers: Sam Hampton, John Hampton, Jr., Iby Hampton, Ledell Hampton, and Landry Hampton; sister, Cinderella H. Blackman.

A visitation will begin at 9:00am until 11:00am on Saturday, September 26, 2020 at the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Moreauville.
