Funeral service for Lessie Mae Jacob Johnson of Marksville will begin at 11:00am on Saturday, March 18th, 2023 at the St. Richard’s Chapel in Hickory Hill. Burial will follow at St. Richard’s Catholic Cemetery in Hickory Hill.

Mrs. Lessie departed this earthly life on Sunday, March 12, 2023, at Valley View Nursing Home in Marksville, LA, surrounded by her loved ones at the age of 90 years old. Lessie Mae Johnson “T-Less” was born on May 11, 1932, in Marksville, LA, to the union of Louella and Shelby Jacob Sr. Lessie was raised by her stepfather, Walter Guillot, preceding her father’s passing. She was one of eleven children.

Lessie accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Marksville, LA, and attended St. Richard’s Catholic Church in Marksville, LA, regularly before she became ill. She graduated from Mary McLeod Bethune High School in Marksville, LA. After graduation, she married the love of her life Joseph C. Johnson. To this union, five children were born: Lena (Marie), Constance (Connie), Monica (Pee-Wee), Brenda (Bren), and Larry (Duke). She was well-known and loved by all that knew her. Lessie welcomed everyone in her home with open arms. She fed any and many. She was well known for her cooking skills, especially her homemade boudin and hoghead cheese. Lessie most enjoyed spending time with her loved ones.

She leaves to cherish her memories 4 daughters, Lena Lavallais (Ronald) of Marksville, LA, Constance Johnson of Pineville, LA, Monica Allen (John Wayne) of Marksville, LA, Brenda Johnson (Mack) of Fayetteville, LA; 1 son, Larry Johnson of Marksville, LA; 1 sister, Mildred Leviege of Compton, CA; 5 brothers, Shelby Jacob, Jr. of Memphis, TN, Frederick Guillot of Carencro, LA, August Guillot (Ida) of Marksville, LA, Donald Guillot of Marksville, LA, and Kirby Guillot (Joyce) of Shawnee, KS. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, and loved ones.

She is preceded in death by her father, Shelby Jacob, Sr.; stepfather, Walter Guillot; mother, Louella Guillot; and sisters, Delphine Jacob, Teresa Ratcliff, Elize Ford, and Rose Brown.

Visitation will begin at 9:00am until 10:30am on Saturday, March 18th, 2023, at Escude Funeral Home in Mansura. The holy rosary will be recited at 10:00am.
