Memorial services for Edward "E.J." Jerome Lee, Jr. will begin at 11am on Saturday, October 5, 2019 at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church in Mansura with Fr. Irion St. Romain officiating. Burial will be held at St. Paul Cemetery in Mansura.

Edward “E.J.” Jerome Lee, Jr., was born on August, 12, 1931, in Mansura, LA and passed away on May 12, 2019, in Kansas City, MO. He was the son of the late Edward Jerome and Mary (Sampson) Lee, Sr. He is also preceded in death by his wife, Wilma (Harris) Lee, and stepson Dale Reese (Edie). First wife, Ruth (Ravare) Wills, and their two children: Edward Jerome Lee, III, and Nina Ward. Along with his second wife, Mary (LaBlance) Lee. His brothers: Cleo “Sunny” Lee, Joseph Lee, James Murray Lee, Sr. (Leola), Ervin Lee and Matthew Lee; and sisters-in-law: Elouise (Matthew) and Mary (Norward).

Ed Lee attended Mansura Public Schools and St. James Boarding School (Alexandria, LA). After school, he followed in his brother’s (Cleo) path and joined the United States Army. Shortly after completing his term as active duty, he enlisted with the Missouri National Guard. He was a member of the Guard for over twenty years. He was a professionally trained brick mason and proud union member. He spent his free time gardening, fishing, playing dominos and being the life of the party. E.J. and his wife Ruth began their life in Kansas City, MO shortly after their union in Marksville, LA. He lived in Kansas City for over forty years. However, his family ties in Mansura were so strong that he returned to his hometown for nearly ten years prior to his final return to Kansas City.

Edward Lee is survived by his children from his first union with Ruth, three daughters: Mary “Bonnie” Lee of Kansas City, MO, Felicia Lee of Mesa, AZ and Stephanie Thomas of Houston, TX. In addition, he is survived by his children from his second union with Mary, stepsons: Auston LaBlance, Sr. (Terri), Timothy LaBlance and Robert LaBlance; son Roman Lee LeBlanc (June) all of Kansas City, MO; and daughter Angel Lee of Huntsville, AL. As well as Mary’s two sisters that were under his care upon their mother’s death: Denise LaBlance and Delores “Lois” LaBlance of Kansas City, MO. And with his third union with Wilma, his stepdaughters: Cindy Jackson (Maurice), Jenetta Harris and Sherry Sipho; and stepson: Efrem Reese all of Kansas City, MO. He is also survived by two brothers: Norward Lee and Spelman Lee (Jane) of Mansura, LA; and two sisters: Dorothy Oliver (Wilbert) of Chicago, IL and Velma “Vie” Amos (Bobby) of Vandalia, OH. Along with a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

He was raised in the Catholic faith and remained a faithful believer in the Lord.

Visitation will begin at 9am until 11am on Saturday, October 5, 2019 at Escude Funeral Home in Mansura.
