Willie John Ducote, age 81, passed away peacefully at his home at 7:20 a.m. on October 17, 2025.
Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. on October 20, 2025, at St. Mary's Assumption Catholic Church in Cottonport. A rosary will be said at 10:45 a.m.
Funeral Mass will begin at 11:00 a.m. on October 20, 2025, at St. Mary's Assumption Catholic Church in Cottonport. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery #2.
He leaves behind his sisters, Susan Ducote Plauche' and JoAnn Ducote Tubre; numerous nieces and nephews who, by his own admission, he loved as his own children.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Curtis "T-Toot" Ducote and Brenta Landry Ducote; brother, Robert "Bobby" Ducote, all of Cottonport.
Willie was born in 1944, in Cottonport. After High School he earned a degree in Business Management at USL in Laffayette. He then taught business classes at Simmesport High School. Then in 1967, he joined the Army and spent one year in Vietnam during the Vietnam Conflict. Upon returning, Willie moved to Maryland where he taught Business classes at a Community College there. He then moved to Baton Rouge where he taught Business classes at Delta Junior Collage for the next 30 years. He was also the Financial aid advisor there.
After retirement he returned home where he was brought up in Brassette Lane, to take care of his mother until she passed. During his retirement years, Willie was very active in documenting genealogy of the Ducote and the Landry which was published as the family's history.
Willie had a plethora of close friends and was dearly loved by his nieces and nephews, whom he felt were his children, and his sisters, Susan and JoAnn. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Escude Funeral of Cottonport.
