Funeral Mass for Virginia Rabalais of Plaucheville will take place at the Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church in Plaucheville on Tuesday August 22, 2023 beginning 12:00 p.m. with Fr. Martin Laird officiating. Entombment will take place at the Mater Dolorosa Catholic Cemetery.

Virginia M Rabalais, age 78, passed away at Avoyelles Manor Nursing home on Thursday August 17, 2023 surrounded by her family. Ginger was a loving and cherished Sister, Aunt, God Mother to many, and friend. Everyone who knew her loved her. She was a devoted Catholic and lifetime parishioner of Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church, she was an honorary graduate of St. Joseph Catholic School, dedicated member of the Ladies Altar Society, member of the Society of Our Lady of Lourdes, and a member of the Society of the Sacred Heart and the Society of Our Lady of Fatima. She spent many years participating in and supporting the national fundraising event for muscular dystrophy “Jerry Louis Telethon”.

Ginger Loved all people and animals, she was a friendly face known to many and loved by everyone. She was a gold and Silver medalist in the Louisiana Special Olympics, an avid supporter of all things St. Joseph School, a Gardner, pecan picker and dedicated listener of KLIL Radio.

Those left to cherish her memories are Patricia (James) Prevot of Baton Rouge, Mark (Gwen) Rabalais of Baton Rouge, Kenneth (Julie) Rabalais of Lafayette, and David (Debbie) Rabalais of Plaucheville as well as 7 nephews and 4 nieces. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents Hartwell and Ledell Rabalais of Plaucheville.

Visitation will take place at Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church in Plaucheville on Tuesday August 22, 2023 beginning at 8:30 concluding with a mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 pm. A rosary will be led by Emily Rabalais in her honor at 11:00.

Serving as Pallbearers are her brothers Mark Rabalais, Kenneth Rabalais, and David Rabalais, her nephews Jordan Rabalais, Grant Rabalais, and Troy Prevot; honorary pallbearer, Brian Smith; Cross bearers Olivia, Madison, and Benjamin Rabalais.

The family would like to thank Avoyelles Manor Nursing Home especially staff member Mary for her service and dedication to Ginger who cared so passionately for her. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Joseph School in Plaucheville.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Escude Funeral Home.
