Currently, times and dates are pending.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Stephen John Mayeaux, Jr, better known to most as “Smokey” or “Bart”, who left this world far too soon on April 10, 2026.
Stephen was a devoted father, leaving behind his two beloved children, who were the center of his world. Everything he did was for them, and his love for them will live on forever in their hearts.
He was known for his strong work ethic and took pride in providing for his family. Whether on the job or helping someone in need, Stephen was dependable, hardworking, and always willing to lend a hand.
Stephen found his greatest peace outdoors. He loved hunting and fishing, and he cherished the time spent around a campfire, sharing stories and laughter with friends and family. He will be remembered for his kind heart, his dedication to those he loved and the simple, meaningful life he lived. Though his time here was short, the impact he made will never be forgotten.
He is survived by his two children, Hayes John and Wrenley Renee Mayeaux, along with their mother Kurstyn Normand. He is also survived by his mother Kimberly Gross, two sisters Jessica Laprairie and Skylar Coco, along with his nephews and nieces Elliott and Joseph Laprairie; Makensy, Jakelynn, Lainie, Arlis, and Coleman Coco; uncle, Gerald Gross, along with many other friends and loved ones.
He was preceded in death by his father Stephen Mayeaux, his grandparents Hilman “T-Coon” and Patricia “Patti” Mayeaux and Robert and Velma Gross.
Pallbearers will be some of his closest buddies Russell, Trey and Ricky Dale Rogers, Cameron Jeansonne, Kaleb Bordelon, Cade and Andrew Mayeaux, Austin Hebert, Trinity Henderson and Kurt Normand.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Elliott “Pabon” LaPrairie and Joey “Doc” Gaspard.
