Stanley Desselle

February 21, 1937 — January 31, 2022

Alexandria

Funeral Mass for Stanley Eugene Desselle of Alexandria, originally of Moreauville, will take place at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Moreauville on Friday, February 4th, 2022 beginning at 11:00am with Rev. Brian Seiler officiating. Burial will take place at the Sacred Heart Catholic Mausoleum.

Stanley Eugene “Gene” Desselle passed away on Monday, January 31st, 2022 at the Rapides Regional Medical Center. He was born on February 21st, 1937 to Henry Joseph and Lona Desselle. He attended and graduated from Moreauville High School. After graduating, he attended Baton Rouge Community College before eventually enlisting in the military. He served in the United States Airforce for 22 years and retired as a Master Sergeant in 1978. After retirement he moved to Alexandria where he started his new career working for the Alexandria Daily Town Talk. He worked for 20 years before retiring for good.

He was best known for his bright and cheerful personality. He had the gift of gab and never met a stranger. He was a very giving person to all that he knew. In addition to his love of people, he also had a love of the outdoors and working in his yard. He had by far the best-looking yard in the neighborhood as everyone would say. He always enjoyed his “breakfast outings” with his friends at the local McDonald’s every single morning, rain or shine.

He will be missed by all his many friends and family. The family would like to thank all who cared for Dad during his stay in the Lexington House, Rapides Regional Medical Center, and the staff of Heart of Hospice.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 60 years, Dolores “Loli” Desselle; daughter, JoAnn Leggio (Ray); his grandchildren, Brandon Leggio (Hilary Peace) and Morgan Leggio; sisters, Eva Bonnette (late husband Abel Bonnette) and Amy Bordelon (Ray). Honored to serve as his pallbearers are: Brandon Leggio, Rickey, Andrew, and Dillon Bonnette, Kent and Corey Roblin.
