Funeral Mass for Perry Mitchell Tassin, age 95 of Moreauville, will begin at 11:00am on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Moreauville with Fr. Brian Seiler officiating. Entombment will follow at the Sacred Heart Mausoleum.

Visitation will begin at 8:00am until 10:15am on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at Escude Funeral Home in Moreauville. Rosary prayer service will begin at 10:30am on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Moreauville.

Perry K. Mitchell Tassin, born December 29, 1930, passed away surrounded by the love of the family she spent her life nurturing, on Monday, January 5, 2026. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and the heart of her family.

Perry was married to her beloved husband, Abel Tassin, for 66 years until his passing. Together, they built a life rooted in love, hard work, and deep family bonds.

She is survived by her daughter, Alberta Bordelon (John); her sons, Kenneth Tassin (Nicole), Mitchell Tassin (Joy), Don Tassin (Debra), Brad Tassin (Terri), and Phillip Tassin (Rowena). She is also survived by her brothers, Edward Mitchell (Ora), Rudolph Mitchell, and Patrick Mitchell; and her sisters, Patricia Porter (T-Berry), Gail Juneau (Don), and Gloria Rabalais.

Perry leaves behind a large and loving legacy that includes 16 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, all of whom were the pride and joy of her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward Mitchell and Clemence Lemoine Mitchell; her husband, Abel Tassin, her sisters, Laura Mae Lemoine and Romona Lemoine; and her brothers, Odrey Mitchell and Randolph Mitchell.

Perry was a housewife and a gifted seamstress, known for sewing countless clothing items for family, friends, and anyone in need. She truly was everyone’s seamstress. Later in life, she worked as a cook at the Chicken Palace for her son, where she became well known for her famous rice dressing—a dish many will forever remember.

More than anything, Perry taught her family how to be a family. She never told anyone no, always opened her home and her heart, and loved baking everything from scratch. She found joy in gardening, flowers, crocheting, cooking, and especially in spending time with her grandchildren.

One cherished family tradition was gathering together on hot summer days to shuck, cut, and prepare fresh corn—a simple task that became a treasured memory filled with laughter and togetherness. Her grandchildren especially loved spending the night with her and waking up to her homemade breakfast, a tradition that will live on in their hearts.

Perry Tassin’s life was defined by love, generosity, and devotion to her family. Her lessons, traditions, and unconditional care will continue to guide and comfort all who were blessed to know her.
