Newman Descant

Funeral services for Newman Raymond Descant of Grand Isle will be held on Monday, November 2, 2009 at the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Hessmer, beginning at 10:30am. Visitations will take place at the Escude Funeral Home of Mansura on Sunday, November 1, 2009, beginning at 3:00pm to 10:00pm, with a rosary being cited at 5:00pm. Visitations will resume Monday morning at 8:00am, and last until time of the funeral. Newman Descant, age 68, passed away at the Terrebonne General Hospital on Thursday, October 29, 2009. He is preceded in death by his; parents, Esnard Oneida Descant; sister, Diana Molase; father-in-law, Rufus Jeansonne; mother-in-law, Rita Jeansonne. He is survived by his; wife, Nora Jeansonne Descant of Grand Isle; sons, Wayne Descant wife Millie of Grand Isle, Eric Descant wife Karen of Hessmer, Tommy Descant wife Missy of La Rose; daughters, Julie Milazzo husband Moe of Plaquemine, Tammy Rhodes husband Christopher of Houma, Caroline Cavell husband Philip of Houma; brothers, Eugene Descant of Holyoke, MA, Paul Brother Descant of Holyoke, MA, Ernest Descant of Lockport; sisters, Judy Drennan of Fisher, TX, Anna Teresa Armand of Grand Isle, Deloris Reader of Gulfport, MS. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, 6 step grandchildren, 8 step-great-grandchildren. Services and funeral arrangements are under the direction of Escude Funeral Home.
