Nelson B. Harper, Jr.

Funeral Mass for Nelson B. Harper, Jr., resident of Mansura formerly of New Orleans, will begin at 11:30am on Saturday, February 21, 2026 at All Saints Catholic Church (1441 Teche St, New Orleans, LA 70114). Entombment and Military Honors will follow at 1:00pm at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery (1225 Whitney Ave., Gretna, LA 70056).

Nelson B. Harper, Jr., age 85, passed away on Monday, February 9, 2026, at Riviere de Soleil Community Care Center in Mansura. Mr. Nelson served honorably for 20 years in the U.S. Navy until his retirement. After his service, he worked for the New Orleans Sewage and Water Board until his final retirement. 

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Rosa Batiste Harper; children: Lowen Harper (Michelle), Suani Bowers (Keith), Pamela Harper; siblings, Coty Harper (Wanda), Stacy Powell (Yvonne), Ursula Powell and Lisa Aguillard; 19 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Nelson Harper, Sr. and Edwina Buchana Harper Powell; brothers, Edwin, Terry, Glenn; brother-in-law, Solomon Aguillard.

Visitation will begin at 9:00am until 11:30am on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at All Saints Catholic Church in Algiers.
