Graveside service for Linda Plauche of Lettsworth will begin at 10:00AM on Thursday, November 5, 2026, at The Bordelon Family Cemetery in Lettsworth, LA.
Linda Bordelon Plauche, age 78, passed away on Saturday, October 31, 2026, at Pointe Coupee Nursing Home in New Roads.
Known affectionately by those who loved her as “Granny,” and to many others as “Lin,” Linda Bordelon Plauche lived a life defined by love, family, generosity, and the simple joy of making people feel special.
Born September 8, 1948, in Clarksville, Tennessee, Lin was a graduate of Northwestern State University. While her life took her through many roles, the ones she cherished most were those of mother, homemaker, caretaker, provider, and, above all, Granny.
Lin had a heart that seemed to have room for everyone. She loved people, and she made sure they knew it. Whether you were family, a lifelong friend, or someone she had just met, there was a good chance you were going to get a hug. And not just a polite little hug, either. Lin had a way of making people feel welcomed and loved, whether they were ready for a hug or not!
She was also wonderfully creative and had a gift for turning ordinary things into something beautiful. With driftwood, Spanish moss, pebbles, and a little E6000, she could create the most charming little churches, birdhouses, crosses, and other treasures. She rarely kept these creations for herself. Instead, she gave them away to the people she loved, leaving behind little pieces of her creativity and affection in the homes and hearts of others.
Lin also loved to cook and bake. Her kitchen was another place where she showed her love, and her famous buttermilk cake was nothing short of legendary. It was one of those things that people remembered, requested, and looked forward to.
Above all, Lin loved her family. She was a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and mother-in-love whose love reached across generations. Her family was her greatest accomplishment and her greatest joy.
She is survived by her sons, Matthew Wayne Hall (Chantel), Justin Bruce Kirby (Monica), Keith Kirby (Suzy), Kyle Kirby (Beverly), and Ronnie Plauche (Anna); her daughters-in-love, Lori, Monica, and Anna; her brother, Bruce L. Bordelon Jr.; her grandchildren, Heidi Wagner, Hailey Hall, Kayla Guerrero, Hannah Guillory, Kenneth Kirby, Bruce Kirby, Mallorie Kirby, and Olivia Kirby; and her great-grandchildren, Calley, Elodie, Elias, and Jeni. She also leaves behind many beloved step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren who were part of the family she held so dear.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Charles Kenneth Kirby and Jude Plauche; her son, Kent Kirby; and her grandson, Kerry.
Lin leaves behind more than memories. She leaves behind the warmth of a thousand hugs, handmade treasures scattered among the people she loved, recipes that will be passed down, and a family who will forever hear her love in the little things she left behind.
To those who knew her, she was Granny. To her family, she was home. And to everyone fortunate enough to cross her path, she was a reminder that love should be given freely, generously, and often.
She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
