Obituary

Funeral Mass for Kenneth Paul Scallan of Plaucheville will begin at 11:00am on Monday, August 3, 2026, at Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church in Plaucheville with Fr. Brian Seiler and Fr. Martin Laird officiating. Entombment will follow at Mater Dolorosa Mausoleum in Plaucheville.

Kenneth Paul Scallan, age 69, passed away on July 31, 2026, at his home in Plaucheville.

Kenneth was a hardworking man who appreciated having a good time. Known by friends as "Pelican," he was an avid outdoorsman who found joy in spending time outside and making memories with those he loved.

Above all else, Kenneth was a devoted husband, loving father, cherished son, caring brother, and, perhaps his favorite title of all, Paw. Upon retirement, he enjoyed his crawfish pond and playing & laughing with his grandchildren.

Kenneth never missed an opportunity to make someone laugh. His quick wit and sense of humor stayed with him until the very end, bringing smiles to those around him even in some of his final spoken words.

His laughter and love will leave a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Roxanne Scallan; children, Ava Trahan (Cory), Tobias "Toby" Scallan (Richelle), and Savannah Scallan (Tom); stepchildren: Kristina Ducote and Corey Ducote; 6 grandchildren: Olivia, Maverick, Lilah, Josephine, Tate, and Lexi; brother, Jimmy Scallan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Scallan and Louise English Scallan; sisters, Virginia Brantley and Liz Riche; brother, Steve Scallan; grandson, Zayden.

Visitation will begin at 8:00am until 10:45am on Monday, August 3, 2026, at Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church in Plaucheville.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Escude Funeral Home (318-964-2324) 554 Front St. Cottonport, LA 71327.
