Johnette Basco

Funeral Mass for Johnette St. Romain Basco of Marksville will begin at 11am on Thursday, November 14, 2019 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marksville with Fr. Rusty Rabalais officiating. Entombment will be held in the St. Joseph #2 Mausoleum.

Johnette Basco, age 82, passed away on Saturday, November 9, 2019 at Avoyelles Hospital in Marksville. She was born and raised in Plaucheville and graduated from St. Joseph Catholic School. Johnette was a devoted Catholic and was a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marksville. She was a devoted to her children and family and was surrounded by them all of her life. Her greatest joy and happiness came from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved taking care of animals especially cats.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children: Lisa Mayeux Polito (Steve) of Lake Charles, Robert Mayeux (Jane) of Marksville, & Richard Mayeux (Faye) of Plaucheville; sisters, Marlene St. Romain of New Orleans and Ruth St. Romain Mayer of North Carolina; ten grandchildren: Ashley Bryant, Michael Laborde, Brian Laborde, Eric Mayeux, Chase Mayeux, Haley Fontenot, Corey Mayeux, David Mayeux, Amy Lachney, & Jill Saucier; twelve great-grandchildren: Emily, Garret, Luke, Logan, Aubree, Landon, Isabelle, Wesley, Waylon, Reid, Evan, & William. She is also survived by stepson, Timothy Frink (Gail) of Everett, WA; step-grandchildren, Dawnell Lewis and Kimberly Frink; six step-great-grandchildren; and one step-great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Basco; parents, Ryan St. Romain & Ila Guillory St. Romain.

Visitation will begin at 5pm until 8pm on Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at Escude Funeral Home in Mansura. Rosary prayer service will begin at 6pm on Wednesday, November 13, 2019. Visitation will resume at 8am until 10:30am on Thursday, November 14, 2019 at Escude Funeral Home.
