John Eddie Fitzgerald

John Eddie Fitzgerald, 80, passed away at his home in Mansura, LA on Monday, January 19, 2026.

John was known for his love of gardening and tending to his vegetables everyday. He enjoyed Hunting and fishing  and often being at his camp that he owned for 24 years in Innis, LA. Before he embarked on his career at Angola State Prison, where he served as a Lieutenant for 28yrs until retirement, John dedicated nearly six years to the Navy and the Vietnam War working in Construction Battalion.  

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, January 23, 2026, at 11:00am, at Escude Funeral Home of Mansura, LA, with pastor Byron Reeves officiating.

Visitation begins at 8:00am until time of service, at Escude Funeral Home of Mansura, LA.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Mary Ellen Guindon Fitzgerald; daughter, Patti Fitzgerald; granddaughter, Reganne Faith Daigrepont; brothers, Robert Fitzgerald, Lionel Fitzgerald, and Burnell Fitzgerald.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Helen Guillory Fitzgerald; sister, Joanne Roth; two brothers, William Fitzgerald and Larry Fitzgerald.
