Joanne Jenkins was born on May 5,1955 in Cottonport, Louisiana to the late Frank Jenkins Sr. and Lee Margie Jenkins (Sutton) who preceded her in death.
A Graveside Service will be held on a later date at Golden Chain Baptist Cemetery in Cottonport, LA.
A Time of Peace:
Joanne Jenkins her number was called to go home to her final resting place on Thursday ,October 1, 2026 at 11:30 p.m. at her residence in Cottonport. LA.
A Time to Gain:
Joanne embraced Christianity and was baptized at an early age at Morning Star Baptist Church, which later became Shepard of the Hills in Plaucheville, Louisiana.
Joanne attended Cottonport High School, after graduating she attended Northwestern University in Natchitoches Louisiana for a nursing career.
After graduating she moved on and moved to St. Louis Missouri in the mid 80's with her aunt Annie L Sutton (Nash). While there she was hired to work at St. Louis University School of Nursing until she retired. After retirement she had to return back home to care for her mother and her aunt (Joyce Sutton) after the passing of her father in the 2000’s. In 2011 she became a member of Pentecostals of Cottonport Church (POC), a daughter-work church of the Pentecostals of Alexandria (POA). On March 11,2012 Joanne was baptized again in the name of Jesus by Rev. Douglas Doyle, under the direction of Pastor Anthony Mangun, Pastor of the POA. While attending church there she served as a loving child of God who was faithful in her services to the Lord and to the church as a dedicated worker and took pride in everything, she did. Such as programs, obituaries, literary, etc. you name it she was the go to Gal. (Call Joanne she can do it) and she did it. While at the University she became a Secretary there and performed varieties of duties there she worked under doctors writing tests for students and grading them, wrote books for doctors the literary for them she made sure everything was ready for them. She wrote the literature for her friend Ruth Murray, she was an author of many books that she wrote for the university and personal writing. Joanne was a very smart and intelligent lady who had the ability to process and understand information and computer work and family matters. Joanne loved secretarial work. She was a loving daughter to her parents and sister to her brother Frank Jenkins Jr. She will truly be missed!
A time to Remember:
She was preceded in death by her; mother, father, aunts and uncles.
Mourning her departure, yet thanking God for beautiful memories of many years together, she leaves to cherish her precious memories: her brother, Frank Jenkins, Jr. and sister-law, Nouna Jenkins of Texas; lovely niece, Cyntorria Jenkins of Houston, TX; niece and nephew, Michelle and Peter, of Montana, and Layla of TX; two very close cousins, Valerie Nash of St. Louis, MO and Steve Graydon of Houston, TX; two aunts, Joyce Sutton of Cottonport, LA and Alice Graydon of Griffin, GA; and a host of, other relatives and friends.
The broken Link:
On October 1, 2026, your lease of life expired and your number was called which nobody ever knows when that time will come but now there's no more pains, complaints, worries or stress cause God has you now and he’s going to take care of you. Thanks for the time you shared with us here on earth and the memories that you left us. Even though you are no longer in sight you will always be in our heart forever and forever take your rest now. Until we meet again See You later!
