Born in Lafayette on July 17, 1938, and raised in Mansura, La, Jeanette returned to Lafayette where she received her BA from Southwestern Louisiana Institute.  She later obtained a Masters of Library Science from Louisiana State University.

She spent her career as an educator and librarian, first in the public schools of New Orleans, then at the university level at Nicholls State University, and finally back to her beloved alma mater of USL.

Jeanette was an avid birder and lover of all animals. She was a voracious reader and enjoyed gardening, travel, bridge, and family gatherings. She was considered a walking encyclopedia by many, and a ringer at trivial pursuit. She was the family historian and spent many hours researching our genealogy.  She also donated her time to numerous local charities.

Jeanette was always honest, kind, and gentle; she was a true Southern Lady and will be missed by everyone who had the pleasure of her company.

We want to thank Heart of Hospice for their excellent care and compassion during this difficult journey.

A graveside service will be held at St. Paul the Apostle Cemetery in Mansura, La.  In her memory, please consider donating to your favorite animal rescue organization.
