Funeral Services for James Rodgers, Sr. of Simmesport will take place at the First United Pentecostal Church of Simmesport on Thursday, June 17th, 2021 beginning at 1:00pm with Rev. Daniel Lankford officiating. Burial will take place at the First United Pentecostal Church Cemetery.

James “Slim” Rodgers, Sr., age 82, passed away at the Bayou Chateau Nursing Home of Simmesport on Sunday, June 13th, 2021.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 41 years, Monica Rodgers; son, Shane Thames; grandchildren, Christopher and Robert Thames, Mariah Walls, Kelly Bowen, James and Grant Craig; great-grandchildren, Joseph, Christian, Lee David, Addilyn, Wyatt, Sarah, Caroline, Gregory Jr., and Hana Lou Thames.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James R. Rodgers and Vicie Pynes Rodgers; son, James E. Rodgers, Jr.; sisters, Ethel Collins and Vera Fulford; brothers, Bobby Rodgers and Clyde Rodgers.

Visitation will be held from 9:00am to 1:00pm at the First United Pentecostal Church of Simmesport on Thursday, June 17th, 2021.
