Ike Jenkins, Jr.

Funeral service for Ike Jenkins, Jr. of Evergreen will begin at 11:00am on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at Escude Funeral Home in Mansura with Rev. Larry Jones officiating. Burial will follow at the Golden Chain Baptist Cemetery in Cottonport.

Ike Jenkins, Jr., age 83, passed away on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, in Baton Rouge. Ike was a man of many passions, most notably his unwavering love for the Dallas Cowboys, which he followed with fervor, rallying friends and family alike around the joys and trials of the football season. Ike faithfully fulfilled the calling of fatherhood, leading his family with strength, love, and Godly wisdom. A man of Christian Faith, he trusted God in all seasons of life and lived by prayer humility, and steadfast devotion to family. His life reflected Psalm 112:6, "Surely the righteous will never be shaken; they will be remembered forever."

Those left to cherish his memory are his children: Michelle Texada (Beau), Monica Sue Hegger, Cheryl Jenkins, Pamela Jenkins (Andre), Thelma Jenkins Prater (Damien), Jacob Jenkins (Melissa), Douglas Jenkins, Desmond Jenkins (Keba), Ike Jenkins, III, Sandra Augustine (Alvin); siblings: James Jenkins, Sally Shuler, Bonnie Sampson, Cathy Ford. He is also survived by a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ike Jenkins, Sr. and Olla Washington Jenkins; wife, Annie Mae Jenkins; sons, Michael Earl Bradford and Cedric Shane Jenkins; grandchild, Ike Jenkins, IV; siblings: Ora Carter, Ola Mae Fields, Joseph Jenkins, Osten Jenkins, Johnny Jenkins, Frank Jenkins, Israel Jenkins, Willie Jenkins, Ophelia Duranda.

Visitation will begin at 9:00am until 11:00am on Saturday, January 3, 2025, at Escude Funeral Home in Mansura.

Though hearts are heavy, the family rejoices in the assurance of eternal life through Jesus Christ and takes comfort in knowing he has heard the words, "Well done, thou good and faithful servant."
