George Randolph “Randy” Mobley, age 84, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at Avoyelles Hospital in Marksville.
Randy dedicated his life to his family, his career as a Commercial Insurance Marketing Manager, as well as serving his community and church.
Randy’s devotion to his Catholic faith guided him. He was a proud member of St. Mary’s Assumption Church, the Knights of Columbus, and a committed brother in the ACTS community, where he found fellowship, purpose, and joy.
His dedication to service extended beyond the church. In his earlier years, Randy was deeply involved with the Ellerbe volunteer fire department, offering his time, strength, and heart to protect and support his community. Randy was a generous supporter of his community, always lending a hand when called upon. He was an active member of the Krewe of Elders in Shreveport, LA and reigned as King in 2012.
He loved music and the beach, especially when his grandchildren were there with him. Randy will be remembered for his loyalty and his commitment as the provider for his family. His legacy lives on in his faith and with the countless lives he touched through service and friendship.
Randy is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Margaret “Sylvia” Mobley of Cottonport; his daughters, Heather Ann Mobley of Cottonport and Laurie Margaret (Jacob) Gauthier of Cottonport; and his treasured grandchildren, Haley Margaret Gauthier, Jacob “Jake” Erwin Gauthier, Jr., and Kate Elizabeth Gauthier. His three grandchildren were the light of his life — he delighted in their laughter, celebrated their accomplishments, and cherished every moment spent with them.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George Edwin Mobley and Beatrice Elizabeth May Mobley.
Pallbearers for the service include: Jacob Gauthier Sr., Jacob “Jake” Gauthier Jr., Taylor Boyle, Dave Stillson, Shane Hukins and Justice Sensebe.
Family requests donations to be made to St. Mary’s Assumption Church or Samaritan's Purse.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Escude Funeral Home, 552 Front St., Cottonport, LA 71327 and to Croley Funeral Home in Gladewater, Texas.
