Garland Joseph Matte

Garland J. Matte, age 86, passed away on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at the Valley View Nursing Home in Marksville.

Those left to cherish his memory are his children: Peggy S. Matte, Lyndia M. Matte Nezat, Glyndia M. Matte Duplichan; Monica Jones (Alan Jones, Jr.), Melissa Williams Speight (Kendall Speight), Danielle Matte Daigle, and Travis James Matte; siblings, Todd Matte and Armena Matte. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Eugenia Doucet Guidry (Paul J. Guidry); father, Emmitt “Bill” Joseph Matte (Ruth Matte); siblings, Myrtle Guidry Roussel and Jerry Guidry; son-in-law, Steven C. Nezat; daughter-in-law, Ashly Matte.
