A Life of Service and Strength
Frankie Sampson, a man of profound loyalty and quiet strength, passed away on Thursday, April 17, 2026, in Houston, Texas. Born in Pineville, Louisiana, on November 26, 1951, to the late John Sampson and Ella Mae Benjamin Sampson, Frankie’s life was defined by his devotion to his country and his family.
After attending Bethune High and graduating from Marksville High, Frankie answered the call to serve, enlisting in the United States Army. He served honorably from June 1973 until June 1986, carrying the values of discipline and protection with him for the rest of his life. After his military service, he relocated to Houston, where he worked for the Burn Security Company and later dedicated ten years of service to the Richmond State School.
A Heart for Family and "Home"
While Frankie made his home in Houston, his heart remained rooted in Louisiana. To Frankie, every holiday was a sacred opportunity to pack the car and head "home" to be surrounded by his kin. He was a natural leader and a protective soul—a man who defended the innocent and listened with a heart full of empathy.
Frankie lived for the joy of the moment. He was a passionate fan of the Dallas Cowboys, the Lakers, and the Dodgers, and he never lost his love for the rhythm of Southern Soul music. To see Frankie on the dance floor was to see a man who truly knew how to celebrate life. Above all else, his grandchildren were the absolute lights of his life, and he took immense pride in being their grandfather.
Cherished Memories
He leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter to be cherished by his wife of 51 years, Bonnie Sampson of Houston, TX; his sons, Marcus Sampson and Cory Sampson of Houston, TX; his sisters, Ella Lee Sampson, Leshia Benjamin, and Vanessa Sampson, all of Houston, TX; and brother, Donald Benjamin of Cottonport, LA; his grandchildren, Brendon Sampson, Rossyla Sampson, Nova Sampson, and Mason Alexander; his aunt, Inez Batiste of Moreauville, LA; his best friends, James Sampson and James Jenkins. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who will miss his protective presence and guiding hand.
Frankie was reunited in eternal rest with his parents, John and Ella Mae Sampson; his siblings, Linda Weaver, Leroy Sampson, and Glenn Sampson; and his beloved granddaughter, Chloe Sampson.
Frankie Sampson was a leader, a defender, and a proud father. His spirit will continue to dance in the hearts of those he loved so dearly.
