The funeral service for Elizabeth Francois Batiste of Simmesport will begin at 11:00am on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at Escude Funeral Home in Simmesport. Burial will follow at Tree of Life Cemetery in Lettsworth.

Visitation will begin at 9:00am until 11:00am on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at Escude Funeral Home in Simmesport.

Elizabeth F. Batiste, age 74, passed away on Wednesday, September 13, 2023, at Valley View Nursing Home in Marksville.

Elizabeth was a woman of vibrant spirit, unwavering dedication, and a passion for culinary excellence. Elizabeth's love for cooking was ignited while working in various restaurants in the vibrant city of New Orleans. With her incredible talent and commitment, she flourished as a chef, bringing joy to countless souls through her delectable creations. Her love for cuisine was evident in every dish she prepared, and she had a special fondness for fried chicken and fried fish, which always left people wanting more.

Beyond her culinary achievements, Elizabeth was a pillar of strength and love within her family. After the passing of her mother, she assumed the role of matriarch with grace and compassion, guiding and nurturing her loved ones through life's challenges. Her warm presence and boundless love created a sense of belonging that embraced everyone who had the privilege of being a part of her life.

An avid nature enthusiast, Elizabeth took solace in sitting outside, immersing herself in the beauty of the natural world. Her outgoing personality and straightforward nature made her a dependable confidante and a source of unwavering support for her family and friends. Her love for them knew no bounds, and she consistently showered them with affection and encouragement, always wearing a bright smile that uplifted the spirits of those around her.

Elizabeth Batiste's departure from this world leaves an indescribable void, but her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved her.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Clarence Batiste of Simmesport; daughters, Kimberly Batiste of New Orleans and Angela Batiste of New Orleans; grandchildren, Kimani Batiste of Natchitoches and Ki’lyn Haten of New Orleans; siblings: nine siblings: Elizabeth (Clarence) Batiste of Simmesport; of Hammond; Willie Francois, Jr. of Lettsworth; Clementine (Samuel) Rushing of Elgin, Illinois; Elouise (Herbert) Davis of Baton Rouge; Gwendolyn (Fred) Selmer of New Orleans; Abbiegale Francois of Baton Rouge; Melissa (Kyle) McKenny of New Orleans; Timmy (Mary) of Baker; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie Francois, Sr. & Lettie Draper Francois; and siblings, Michael Francois, Henry Francois, and Viola James.
