The funeral service for Ed Stirgus of Mansura will begin at 11:00am on Saturday, March 11, 2023, at St. John Community Church-Baptist with Pastor Charles Guillory officiating. Burial will follow at St. John Community Church-Baptist Cemetery in Marksville.
Ed Stirgus, age 79, passed away on Saturday, February 25, 2023.
Those left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Regena (Anthony) Young of New Orleans, Alice (Arshield) Johnson of Baker; sons, Eddie Stirgus of Monroe and Alex Stirgus of New Orleans; sisters, Dorothy S. Lea of Forney, TX, Gloria Stirgus of Mansura, Katherine S. Corner of Mansura, and Mary Ann Stirgus of Baton Rouge; Ivette Stirgus. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren: Eddie Jose (Kurissa) Stirgus, Christopher John (Shae) Stirgus, Chavez Cades, Tempest Jasmine Smith (Richard), Raven Alexis Butler, Arshield Curry, Arshield Johnson, Jr., Aysia Johnson, Lacy Johnson, Anthony Young, and Jonathan Young; 4 great-grandchildren: Auri Nettles, Amyri Nettles, Richard Smith, Jr., and Autumn Cades; aunt, Mary Goins of Shreveport; brothers-in-law: Romas (Delia) Antoine of Simmesport, Rynnie (Henrietta) Antoine of Fort Worth, TX, Lionel (Beverly) Antoine of Cedar Hill, TX; sisters-in-law, Barbara Alexander of Simmesport and Patricia Hernandez of Lewisville, TX.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine Stirgus; parents, Willie & Doretha Johnson Stirgus; grandson, Terrance Young; siblings: Robert Stirgus, Lee Andrew Stirgus, Charlie Stirgus, Shirley Mae Richard, Viola S. Brown, Willie Lee Stirgus, Rosemary Stirgus, Mildred Stirgus, & Beverly Ann Stirgus; niece, Brenda Ann Richard; special uncle, Howard Stirgus.
Visitation will begin at 9:00am until the time of service on Saturday, March 11, 2023, at St. John Community Church-Baptist in Marksville.
