Memorial Mass for Clay Elmer of Marksville will begin at 11:00am on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Moncla with Fr. Albi Mulloth officiating. Private burial will be held. 

Clay Elmer, age 51, passed away on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at his home from a short battle with stomach cancer.

Clay graduated from Marksville High School in 1993, Louisiana College with a Bachelor of Science Sociology in 1997. He returned to LC to earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2002. His entire nursing career was devoted to patients with cancer. He worked for 20 years at Hematology Oncology Life Center Life Center and 4 years at Mary Birde Perkins Cancer Center. He was known for his blunt sarcasm, love of all things, Star Wars and Star Trek.

Clay was a lifelong Catholic, a believer in the redemptive blood of Jesus. He treated all with dignity and respect reflecting his values and beliefs. Clay loved his family with his whole heart. A fabulous son, husband, brother, uncle, nephew, godfather, cousin, will be greatly missed.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Mary Beth Hamilton Elmer; mother, Marilyn Decuir Elmer; father, Willie Ray Elmer; sister, Heather Tassin (Scott); nephew, Philip Reid (Katelin); niece, Ashley Tassin; and numerous cousins, extend family, and friends.

Visitation will begin at 8:45am until 10:45am on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at St. John the Baptist Fellowship Hall in Moncla.

The family request that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Mary Birde Perkins Cancer Foundation, in memory of Clay.

A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held at on a future date at his employer’s office, Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center in Alexandria for his coworkers, former coworkers, families of patients to share happy memories of Clay.
