Funeral Mass for Caleb Benjamin Chesne of Bordelonville will begin at 11:00am on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Rexmere with Fr. Thomas Kennedy officiating. Burial will follow at St. Michael's Cemetery in Rexmere. Visitation will be held at 4:00 until 8:00pm on Friday, September 11, 2026, at St. Peter's Church Hall in Bordelonville. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Escude Funeral Home.
Caleb Benjamin Chesne, 11 months 8 days old, gained his wings on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at Manning Family Children’s Hospital in New Orleans.
Those left to cherish his precious memory are his parents, Samuel “Joey” Chesne, Jr. and Tessa K. Snoddy; siblings, Alton “Levi” Chesne, Sawyer Joseph Chesne, and Brylee Tess Chesne; maternal grandparents, Thomas & Tracy Snoddy; paternal grandparents, Janette Marie Mayeaux and Samuel Joseph Chesne (Latosha Marie Chesne); maternal great-grandmother, Carol Crouch. He is also survived by aunts, Ashley Carter and Heavin Chesne; uncles, Troy Snoddy, Gavyn Chesne (Payton Miller), Charles Pepiton IV, (Macy), Garett Pepiton, Caden Kimble, Dylan Forbes, Scott Michel; great-aunts, Julee Dockery and Amanda Mayeaux; numerous cousins and extended family.
He was preceded in death by maternal great-grandparents, Bud Crouch; and JD & Ida Snoddy; paternal great-grandparents, Hilman “T-Coon” Mayeaux & Patricia “Patti” Mayeaux; Lilias Emmie Chesne; and Alton Michael Chesne; uncle, Thorne Christian Chesne; great-uncle, Stephen John Mayeaux.
The family would like to thank the following: Dr. Timothy Pettitt, Dr. Alexander Plato, Dr. Jeff DeMare, Dr. Julio Reyes, Dr. Alexandru Firan, Chance Moreau, Molly Brown, Alex Fricke, Marley Biggs, Naomi Russo Henry, Megan Winingham, Janelle Sebela, The Ronald McDonald House of New Orleans, the Manning Family Childrens hospital, and so many other families and nurses we have met along the way.
