Funeral services for Betty “Love” Johnson of Mansura will begin at 11:00am on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at St. John Community Church-Baptist in Marksville with Rev. Charles Guillory officiating. Burial will follow at the St. John Community Church-Baptist Cemetery in Marksville. Visitation will begin at 8:00am until 11:00am on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at St. John Community Church-Baptist in Marksville. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Escude Funeral Home.

Sister Betty Marie “Love” Johnson was born on January 18, 1950, to the late Aaron Johnson and the late Mary Jones Johnson in Pineville, La. Early Sunday morning, June 15, 2025, Betty was called home to rest in the arms of the Lord quietly.

Sister Betty was baptized by the late Rev. Remus Thomas at St. John Baptist Church, Marksville, La. She was known to many as " Love" and "Ms. Betty". Sister Betty was employed with the school system as a cafeteria worker, she worked for Zolle's Cafe in Mansura, La. Betty also did domestic work for Bascom and Sadie Gremillion, their daughter Micheal & Gayle Thevenot, for many years.

Sister Betty shared this life (her life) with one daughter, Mary Ann Johnson Brooks. Sister Betty was known for her candidness when speaking, her cooking, and her baking. There was nothing she couldn't cook or bake. Her sweet potato pies were oh so good. She also loved to sew and crochet. Betty was a faithful member here at St. John, until her health failed her and she relocated to Cade, Louisiana, where she could be closer to her daughter at Landmark of Acadiana Rehabilitation Center.

Sister Betty was active at St. John Community Church-Baptist in various ministries: Sunday School student, kitchen committee worker, Sanctuary Choir member, Young Adult choir member, Usher ministry, Mission Ministry. She was also active in vacation bible school, Bible study and any other area she was needed. She had a willing heart to serve wherever she was needed. Sister Betty loved her Pastor and Sis. Rubie Guillory and family, and her church family.

Sister Betty was preceded in death by her parents; two siblings; Patsy Ruth Williams and Wilbert “Big man” Mose.

Sister Betty leaves to cherish her memories and love to one daughter, Mary Brooks; one granddaughter, India Brooks; 4 bonus grandsons: Anthony Brooks, Jr., Michael Brooks, Matthew Brooks, and Nicholas Brooks all of Lafayette, LA; two sisters: Bobbie Jean Moore of Houston, TX and Rosetta Seiss of Mansura, LA; one godchild, Dewayne Williams; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousin, and friends. She also leaves several special friends, Mary Smith, Bernadine Batiste, Gloria Andrews, Marsha Jackson; her transportation friend, Geneva Mingo; her go-to couple, Emeric and Patricia Jacobs; and very close cousin, Sylvia Ann Jones.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers: Robert Charles Moore, Jeremiah Moore, Vincent Seiss, James Moore, Victor Seiss, and Matthew Brooks; honorary pallbearers: Emeric Jacobs, Rev. Larry Jones, Rhine Turner, Herman Francisco, Carl Jones, and Morris Ravare.
