Annie Maddie Ducote, passed on from this Earth into Heaven on Monday, September 7, 2026 at the age of 97.

Funeral Mass for Annie will be held on Friday, September 11, 2026, at 11:30AM at Christ the King Catholic Church in Simmesport, LA.  Entombment will follow at Christ the King Cemetery.

Visitation will begin from 8:00AM until 11:30AM, with a rosary recited at 10:45AM on Friday, September 11, 2026, at Escude Funeral Home in Simmesport, LA.

She was born on January 11, 2026 in Woodside, LA., the youngest of 3 siblings where she was reared by her mother, Rosie Torina Maddie and her father, Sam Maddie.  She grew up on the farm and a small grocery store that her father owned and was no stranger to work.  She married Merlin J. Ducote in 1950, and moved to Baton Rouge where they owned and operated several small grocery stores. They moved to Simmesport in 1958 where they built a grocery store, A & M Supermarket, and operated for 35 years. they later had a used car business, sold new and used mobile homes, ran a trailer park, and bought and sold land. She worked in the store 11 hours a day, 6 days a week, and when she came home, she made sure her family was fed and the house was spotless.

Being a devout Catholic, she attended Mass every Sunday without fail. After Mass, she would prepare a full course dinner where anyone was invited, and she fed many of her son's friends. She was an excellent cook in both Cajun and Italian Cuisine.

Annie was well traveled, having gone to most European countries, as well as Medugorje in Bosnia, Alaska, Hawaii, Canada, Mexico, and anywhere on the USA map you could put your finger. She and a friend even went to President JFK's funeral in Washington D.C.

She is survived by her two sons, Gerald Ducote and Samuel Ducote; three grandsons; and five great granddaughters.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Merlin J. Ducote; father, Sam Maddie; mother, Rosie Torina Maddie; brother, Frank Maddie and his wife Gladys; sister, Rosie Collette and her husband Anthony; and daughter-in-law, Donna Bonnette Ducote (Samuel).

pallbearers will be Gerald Ducote, Samuel Ducote, David Ducote, Austin Ducote, Alvin Mose, and Alton Jones, Jr.
