Moreauville

Funeral Mass for Anna Lee Burke of Moreauville will begin at 11:00am on Wednesday, February 8, 2023, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Moreauville with Rev. Brian Seiler officiating. Burial will follow at the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.

Mrs. Anna Lee Burke, age 78, peacefully passed away on Saturday, February 4, 2023, at Oakmont Estates.

Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Glen (Lauri) Burke and Don (Mary) Burke; daughter Sharon (Mark) Dubea; grandchildren, Bryan Burke and Peyton Burke. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Burke; her parents, Gaston and Gussie Lemoine; brothers, Joseph Lemoine, Maxwell Lemoine, and Anthony Royce Lemoine.

She was a devoted wife of 48 years and a wonderful mother of three. She was a wonderful cook and baker who took pride in providing home cooked meals to her family every day. As her children, we were fortunate and thankful to witness the love of two great parents who always strove to make us the best that we could be. She was so proud of her three children and was always there to comfort and support them. She always taught us to respect our elders and always use the phrases of yes sir or ma'am and no sir or ma'am to all grownups,

She had a passion for being a caregiver for the elderly in the Avoyelles communities for many years by taking care of many families’ elderly loved ones. She loved to pray the rosary in silence every day. She was also a very devoted member of the Sacred Heart Church in Moreauville. She dearly loved her parents and three brothers. She suffered from the memory of the knock on the front door of her parents' home at the tender age of 8 when two military soldiers came to deliver the unfortunate news of her 18-year-old brother's passing in the Korean War. Many times, over the years, she would tell her children that the sound of the knock was still in her head, and she could not let it go. After her brother's death, she received a return to sender letter that she had written to her brother, Royce, in Korea to tell him that she had made the honor roll and that she loved him. Now she can go to heaven and give him a big hug and relay the news in his presence.
