Funeral services for Gano “Dee” Bergeron of Cottonport will begin at 2pm on Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at Escude Funeral Home in Cottonport. Burial will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Cottonport.

Gano “Dee” Bergeron, age 89, passed away on Monday, February 11, 2019 at Colonial Nursing Home in Marksville.

When Mr. Gano was younger, he worked for Western Union. He also proudly served as Justice of the Peace for over 20 years. Mr. Gano retired from the Avoyelles Parish Sheriff's Department as a Captain.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 69 years, Rita Jeansonne Bergeron of Cottonport; sons, Ronnie Bergeron (Kathy) of Cottonport, Drue Bergeron (Mattie) of Scott, Justin Bergeron of Cottonport, Gano “Peanut” Bergeron, Jr. (Cindy) of Algiers, & Ty Bergeron (Stephanie) of Cottonport. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; and his close 1st cousin, Cora Guillory of Echo.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar Bergeron, Sr. & Marniva Mayeux Bergeron and brother, Oscar Bergeron, Jr.

Visitation will begin at 5pm until 10pm on Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at Escude Funeral Home in Cottonport. Visitation will resume at 8am until time of service on Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at Escude Funeral Home in Cottonport.

    Your loved one went to meet his best friend Irvin Gaurhier. They are so glad to meet again. Our fathers were very close and like brothers forever as long has i know. I would visit your grandpa alot bc he was like a grandpa to me when I was little. We will be with them again someday bc of our faith. Your family is in prayer.
